Day 11: Cody, WY

Air mattress is still holding strong. We packed up a little quicker this morning but still left 1.5 hours later than we had anticipated. We just aren't morning people...

We took a beautiful ride through the Big Horn National Forest. Straight up the side of what seemed like a mountain but maybe doesn't qualify. You could see for hundreds of miles. The road wound around and along the hillside. My favorite part again was the rocks. This time though there were signs that said the time period and era "Ordovician 400-500 million years ago" or something like that. It was fascinating. We pulled over at a pull-off to put on our jackets, we were in the 8000-9000 foot range. We just so happened to stop at a natural spring. We filled up our water jug for later.

The air was so fresh and you could smell the fir trees intensely. Unlike anything I've experienced. The trees were great too...it was a fir forest, not just one type but many different types. I guess it's fascinating when it's out of the ordinary for you. We saw big beautiful deer with huge antlers. We hit a little bit of rain but nothing more than a sprinkle. We continued on the curvy road:

At the end we came into the little town of Lovell. We got pepsi's at a gas station and the attendant directed us to a great city park where we had some snacks. Mini-B loved to be able to get out an play fetch with a stick (well, more like a half of a twig...):

We continued on to Cody and got there in the early afternoon. We set up the tent and I went to the laundry area to work while Devin set up camp. When I came back from working it was great...bed was made beautifully, chairs set out with the maps arranged neatly on the table. He is such a wonderful husband.

We ran into town to get fast food again. There was a small batch of rain moving in and the wind had picked up to where we didn't think it wise to do a fire. I needed to do a quick meal to get back to work. After dinner we stopped at a little frozen yogurt place, WYOgurt, and enjoyed great froyo. We came back and showered and finished work and planned more of our trip. It was a really relaxing day and good to get on top of some things.

Today we traveled 157 miles for a total of 2734.6 miles across America.
